Up above the beach so high, the City of Pompano Beach debuted a routine presented by Firefly Drones Show originally scheduled during the Fisher Family Pier grand unveiling this past July 4. That event was postponed due to rain and lightning. The November show lit up the night sky with a digital display of technology that was like watching a perfectly timed, computerized dance recital in the sky. The City of Pompano Beach thoughtfully chose November 12 date, keeping summer storms and turtle season in mind.

For approximately 15 minutes, 200 little drones equipped with custom LED lights and expertly digitized, sailed just north of the Pompano Beach Fisher Family Pier in perfect synchronized union for a crowd of thousands. Residents from all over South Florida lucky enough to catch the very short routine were dazzled as each precise and distinct formation danced along to electronic music, drawing delighted “oohs” and “ahhs” from all around the beach that were almost as in sync as the drones themselves.

Firefly Drones Show sent 200 drones soaring, and each one was programmed with ultra-precise positioning that wowed viewers with an LED-studded, experiential story of our precious Pompano Beach. Onlookers watched as the carefully and artfully crafted flight path transformed the drones from a sailboat into our mascot, the Pompano fish, and even greeted visitors with a perfectly formed “Florida’s Warmest Welcome.”

The LED lights equipped on each drone had a five-mile visibility, allowing onlookers from as far as Las Olas and up to Deerfield Beach to view what can be described as a futuristic firework show. The spectacular, but very short, presentation was created by owners of Firefly Drones Show, Kyle Dorosz and Ryan Sigmon. Founded in 2017, Dorosz and Sigmon single-handedly changed the game of open-air visuals. They worked closely with the FAA and created the first ever FAA-compliant drone show.

Some locals were disappointed and even missed the show altogether due to the brevity of the routine. Each little drone is capable of just a 23-minute flight path. Those who made it to the show on time packed onto Pompano Beach and witnessed the unique, dramatically choreographed production designed and orchestrated by world class artists and engineers.

Firefly Drones Show and the City of Pompano Beach presented a celebration of all the things that make our city so distinct and special and gave residents a glimpse at the firework display of the future. Firefly Drones Show can supply a customized routine for anyone, using 100, 200, 300, and now even 500 drones. Check out their videos and upcoming events at Firefly Drones Show.
