Incumbent Dedicated to Amping Up Her District
Beverly Perkins is seeking her fourth two-year term as District 4’s commissioner.
“As your commissioner, I fought to ensure our needs are met, including: receiving our fair share of neighborhood improvements, bringing economic development and enhancing public safety,” she said in a political advertisement.
During her tenure, Perkins has worked to complete the new northwest senior activity center on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., added lighting to the Karl Weaver Community Park in the Sanders Park Community, renovated the Annie Adderly Gillis Park at the corner of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and NW 6th Ave, a new fire station, lighting within the Liberty Park Community, Apollo Park Ultimate Sports Park Extension, a makeover for Coleman Park, and Community Court at the Annie L. Weaver Health Center.
If re-elected, she has plans to build a parking lot for the Blanche Ely Museum, create the Braggs/Cristwell Police Substation, beautify NW 6th Ave, build a mini park on NW 6th Street, and a new Youth Development Center at Mitchell Moore Park.
Professionally, Perkins was the former director of outreach services for the later Congressman Alcee Hasting’s Office. She was one of South Florida’s 50 Most Powerful & Influential Black Business Leaders in 2018, and a 2019 March of Dimes Recipient. Her educational background is in Communication and Organizational Leadership, with a Bachelor’s degree from Trinity International University.
