Cool in the Pool

As the temperature starts creeping up in South Florida, the pool is one of the best resources to cool yourself down.

  • The Pompano Aquatic Center is open. It features an Olympic size lap pool with a teaching pool for those learning how to swim. You must reserve a lane by calling 954-786-4111. Hours of operation are: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The pool will close at noon on July 4. Find more info here.
  • The Calypso Cay waterpark in Margate is open daily until August 14, Friday to Monday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The water park offers private swim lessons, water aerobics, and free swimming classes for children five years and younger through the Swim Central program.   • Castaway Island Water Park is open at Topeekeegee Yugnee (T.Y.) Park in Hollywood. It will be open daily for a fee of $6 per person starting July 1 until August 22. The hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Funbrella rentals are not available at this time. For more information, visit this page.
